The Father Maguire Council - 3851

The FATHER MAGUIRE COUNCIL was chartered on May 10, 1954 to serve the parishes of Saint Christopher in West Covina, CA and Sacred Heart in Covina, CA.   A committee of charter members, Brothers: Alan Fitzgerald, Del Newdigate, Louis Roelle, Henry Rynicki and Grover Whitney, chose to have the council named after Father William A. Maguire and their choice was unanimously approved by the membership.  Click here to learn more about our namesake, Father Maguire.

Our council is located on the border of our two cities, Covina and West Covina, approximately 18-20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles along Interstate 10.  We are also a member of the West Covina Chamber of Commerce.  We are part of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, located within District 88 of the California State Council.   Our council is the seventh largest council in California and hosts many Chapter events.  Our council's Fourth Degree members belong to the Christopher Columbus Assembly.

We proudly occupy one of the largest council facilities in California which includes a large hall that can seat 300 people, a council meeting room, additional office and storage space, a lounge/bar that can seat 80-100, and a large backyard where we hold family picnics.  The picnic area features a playground area for our children, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, large built-in gas BBQ and plenty of shade for our California summer events.

Past accomplishments have included numerous Star Council awards, several past Grand Knights have represented us in official capacities at the District, Chapter and State levels following their terms, successful collaborations with our Ladies of Columbus auxiliary council, the Ladies of the Snows Council, and sponsorship of Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 433 since 2004 and most important of all the chance to work with some magnificent priests.
